New Courses at MCC

People who know me well, know that I spend most of my time doing creative things, whether it be scrapbooking, web design, graphic design, photography, desk-top publishing or singing. I just love to CREATE!
I am passionate about preserving memories in a creative and functional way and scrapbooking helps me do this while allowing me to unwind and relax a bit too.
I began teaching for MCC about two years ago, right in the beginning of Jeri’s adventure into the world of online crafting education. I really enjoy the opportunity MCC gives me to meet people from all over the globe. It reminds me that we all share a common bond in crafting and no matter what other interests, lifestyles or beliefs we hold, we can ALWAYS come together to create!
This fall, I will be offering two courses designed to help you expand your scrapbooking horizons. I love nothing more than to see people develop a style of their own in their scrapbooking. I also like to show my students how to use the materials they have in their scrapbooking stash to create simple treasures that will prevail long after the latest FAD in scrapbooking has disappeared from the shelves and the magazines.

I've been busy entertaining my children for the holidays but now that they are quickly drawing to a close, I am in the planning stages of some new classes and reviving some old ones.

I have 4 new classes at MCC that are the result of a major revamp on one of my longer course from last year.

Design It! (Scrapbooking 201)
A 2 week course exploring the principles of design in scrapbooking.

Sadly, today marks the end of Scrap'n'Crazy. Due to some technical issues with web hosts shutting their doors and new hosts that couldn't deliver what they said they could, Chelle has had to make the hard decision to let the website go.

I think I speak for all the SNC girls when I say that this wonderful group will be sorely missed. Chelle has created a fantastic place of support, fun, comfort, joy, laughter, and most of all... great scrapping for us and life will just not be the same again. Thanks so much Chelle and I wish you well in all your future endeavours.

Walk around the Rocks

Yesterday, I went on a walking tour of the Rocks area in Sydney. It was a Year 4 excursion with my daughter's school. I took my camera and got some good shots of the architecture in the area. I thought I would share some with you.

A photo of an old storehouse built by convicts. All those sandstone blocks were hand quarried and shaped by the convicts. Each convict had a differnt way of marking the blocks which was their signature and a way of checking that they did their daily quota of work.

This photo was taken at the site of the ruins of some of the first houses ever built at The Rocks.

This is the front of the Merchant's House which has been turned into an educational resource. The Step Back in Time Tours are based here.

This old door lead down to the underground kitchen of the Merchant's House.

I found this image of the building across the street relected in a window hard to resist.

This is a photo of a doorway on the front of a buiding that was actually a hidden laneway leading to another world of ruins of the first house built at The Rocks.

June SNC Projects

Chelle put together a stunning Design Team pack this month with gorgeous papers from Teresa Collins. I just loved working with them.

The pink, black and cream papers in the Bella range just screamed for black and white pictures and the stiched Bazzill was really interesting to work with holding lots of possibilities for use.

The black and white Damask range lends itself perfectly to a dash of red embellishment.

My first attempt at an Acrylic album was a lot of fun while a little daunting at first. I discovered some tips along the way that make the process easier. For those who purchase the kit from Scrap'n'Crazy, you will receive my instructions for creating an acrylic album like mine.

May SNC Projects

Check out this 8" x 8" mini canvas project. Believe it or not this is my first ever attempt at a canvas. I have always been a bit scared by them to be honest but now I've done this one I am almost hooked. I have a couple more in mind now.

Chelle made up an absolutely stunning DT kit for May with gorgeous Scenic Route papers as the basis with some really great embellishments thrown in. My favourite part of the kit was the Hambly Press transparency it was so great to be able to cut out the journal block I wanted to use and attach it to my page before writing on it with a thin-line permanent marker. I think they look effective. I also loved the giant chipboard flowers by Deluxe Designs.

It's not particularly clear here but I have cut the circles on this printed paper so that there are some empty sections betwween the coloured rings, then applied a circular journal transparency over the top.

This layout is for a competition on Scrappit (my old DT site). I used some left over paper from my SNC DT kit on this layout.

My final project made from the May SNC DT kit was a mini-maze album which I have incidentally, turned into a free class for members of the SNC forum. So pop over to the forum and sign-up as a member to access this free class.

Spring classes are in full swing now, so I thought I would let you know what I have planned for the coming summer months. (Actually winter here in Oz)

Beyond the Basics of Memory Preservation (Begins May 5) $60 - this is a follow on course from Introduction to Memory Preservation (although it is not a prerequisite). You will have access to the classroom for 40 days. You may use your own supplies or purchase supplies from Memories from the Attic at a 10% discount (US students only). It will be a 4 week program crammed with topics such as:

Using colour effectively - choosing and using colours
Scrap-lifting secrets - making it yours
Journaling life as we see it - telling the story

New DT Appointment

I am very excited to announce that I have been offered and have accepted a position on a fantastic new Design Team (well new to me). While I am very sad to say goodbye to Scrappit, which has been a huge part of my life for such a long time, I am very happy to be joining the team of Scrap'n'Crazy . I must say that from what I have seen so far, they are definitely a 'crazy' bunch of ladies but very likeable and easy to get to know.

Over the coming weeks and months, I will be adding some new projects and pages related to my position and look out for online classes on how to create them yourselves.

Just wanted to share this Scrappitpack, it's my last one for Scrappit for a while. My DT term has come to an end. After 5 years of fun with Jan and the girls on the team, I am moving on. I have accepted a new DT position but it's a secret at the moment shhhh! I will be able to announce soon, I promise.

I have been really busy over the last few weeks and not doing much scrapping but for good reason... I have a huge announcement to make which has been just bursting to get out.... (drum roll please)

My Creative Classroom is now ready to open it's doors! After a long time coming, I am pleased to say that my classroom is complete and ready to open, officially on Tuesday, but I have been authorised to give you, my blog readers, the opportunity to be first to visit my cool new site.

I would appreciate feedback on the layout and ease of navigation around the front page, I am still fiddling with the details but it is essentially good to go.

I have two course ready for enrolment, they will both be starting on the 3rd of December and running for 1 week (I will be available for questions etc for the week but students will have access to the course materials for 14 days after the close of the course) I will post some details here with links to the site for enrolment. This is layout 2 using chipboard words from Scrappit. Again, I have used Daisy D paper. The word Christmas has been spray-painted with cherry red paint. Wishes has been painted with 2 coats of Pebeo Glitter Touch - light silver.

Just catching up on my christmas layouts from last year. Actually, this is for Jan at Scrappit, to take to Paperiffic in Melbourne in a couple of weeks. I am really happy with the colours in this one. Non-traditional but very pretty. The papers are Daisy D's.

It's my birthday and I am, for once, not stressing over it. I'm off to have lunch with my Mum, Brother and his fiance. It will be nice to have time with them, I don't see my little brother much, he's a bit busy these days with work etc.

It's nearly my birthday

Coming up to my 33rd birthday next week, I decided to do a layout that documents how I see myself and my life at 33. I have used a layout by Nicole Southworth that I saw in SM recently. I liked the basic design of the layout and just added my own touches with bling and chipboard letters & butterfly. I have used my favourite colours pink and lime green.

I have some exciting news to share... I have recently been invited to join a wonderful new venture called “My Creative Classroom”, I will be teaching online classes through the website, starting from November 2007. I will have my own virtual classroom where students can sign up to a variety of classes and participate through a revolutionary new teaching tool. I created this blog last year but never got around to actually putting anything in it. I'm going to try again, mainly because I just designed myself a website and I want to have a blog attached to it so i can update it easily with my new layouts and scrapbooking news.
